Description

Biography of an important Czech film director. Věra Chytilová studied architecture in Brno for two years, and started at the Barrandov Film Studio as a clapper, scriptwriter, assistant and assistant director. After several years of filmmaking experience (1953–1957), she studied directing at FAMU in Prague. Representative of the so-called Czech New Wave (About Something Else, 1963; Daisies, 1966; The Fruit of the Tomato Trees We Eat, 1969). At the time of normalization, she worked only with difficulty.
